Day 2: View from our hotel window. We paid 15 euro/night extra for a balcony that was so small you couldn't even stand on it. Our balcony looked out onto Placa de St. Josep Oriol. The church on the left is Santa Maria Del Pi.
Catedral Basilica de Barcelona. Construction started in the 14th century and the native Americans that Columbus brought back from his trip to the new world were baptized here.

Sarcophagus of Eulaia, Barcelona's patron saint. She was a 13 year old girl tortured 13 times by Romans before being crucified on an x-shaped cross. Her X symbol is carved on the pews.
Placa de Catalunya, the central square dividing old and new Barcelona.

From Placa de Catalunya we walked South down the Ramblas.
About 1/2 way down the Ramblas is the La Boqueria Market where locals buy fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. We bought fresh rasberries and a juice slushy.

Assorted cow parts (inside).

The Ramblas ends at the harbor and the Columbus Monument.

La Sagrada Familia. Designed by Antoni Gaudi who worked on it from 1883 to 1926. It is unfinished and still under construction. It is funded by private donation and is estimated to take another 50 years to complete.

Passion Facade: The story of Christ's Passion unfolds in the shape of a Z from bottom to top.

Arc de Triomph
Day 3: We traveled to Badalona for a relaxing day on the beach. Unfortunately it was overcast and the sea was full of jelly fish.
