Pig Fest is held the third weekend in August and is based on a local legend. The legend holds that years ago the village was surrounded by walls with heavy gates to keep invaders out. When the village came under attack by the Huns, a guard lost the iron pin that was used to lock the gate. To keep the gate closed he placed a carrot in the hole. A pig then came by and ate the carrot. The door then was open and the Huns entered and attacked the town. The town was then angry at pigs so they rounded them up and burned them. The Pig fest has been held every year in retribution to the pig that caused the town's destruction. The festival includes beer, wine, rides, singing, dancing, and lots of pork!
